Living year-round on Nantucket means being a self-sufficient generalist and a jack-of-all-trades
These are my tech & creative projects in 2026.
My past two decades have been spent as a Nantucket Island tech guy.
I’ve owned and operated Faraway Island Media, LLC providing IT concierge services to executive clients, commercial IT services to small businesses, and AV system integrations for islanders and seasonal homeowners.
In 2026, our focus is luxury residential home automation & system integration services, partnering on island with MGi Systems & Nantucket Media Systems.

Available for Summer 2026 events on Nantucket, I play acoustic guitar in the style of the Roaring 20s — Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and the Great American Songbook — perfect background music for garden parties, dinner parties, and fundraisers.

I serve on the board of the American Troubadour Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization of artists, musicians and patrons dedicated to historical storytelling of the American Journey.
In 2023 & 2024 I produced an annual artist residency featuring Bill Schustik, the “American Troubadour” for a series of concerts with the Nantucket Historical Association and Egan Maritime Institute.
In Fall 2025 we’ll be recording a selection of Bill’s material on Nantucket, recreating Bill’s 40 years of performances aboard the Black Dog’s Tall Ship Shenandoah out of Vineyard Haven, Martha’s Vineyard.

As an Americana folk artist Bill has performed for 4 US presidents including at Lincoln Center, Game 7 of the World Series, and at Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C. producing their longest running musical, a historical production set during the American Civil War.
Bill Schustik’s career has spanned 60 years starting at the Jared Coffin House at 19.

Since 2022 I’ve served as house organist & musician at Nantucket’s historic Union Lodge on cobblestoned Main Street.
Founded in 1771, Union Lodge predates the founding of the United States and is the second-longest continuously running lodge in North America.
While serving as Master in 2017-2018 I was fortunate to preside over the 3000th consecutive meeting, continuing a 250 year tradition unbroken by Revolutionary, Civil or World Wars, economic downturns or local crisis.

Lodges were popular with merchants and tradesmen, as well as with traveling maritime men and whalers who found local connections and a global brotherhood.
In modernity, we’re the world’s oldest fraternity, still relevant in a time where harmony, charity and community is needed more than ever.
The purpose of the Lodge is to make good men better through life-long self-improvement and fellowship. The doors are open equally regardless of race, political or religious affiliation.
